About us
Safari India is a UK based company run by partners Rich Thomas and Cheryl Herrington. We are experienced travellers, passionate and knowledgeable about India and it's wildlife, and we provide a friendly, professional travel service.
Rich, an experienced wildlife photographer, leads some of our photographic trips and is always happy to offer advice for less experienced photographers. The photographs on this site are Rich's work.
We work with our Indian partner Vivek Sharma, a leading naturalist, guide, wildlife photographer and tiger expert who has worked on projects with many respected organizations such as the BBC, Artists for Nature Foundation and other film and television crews from around the world. Many of our trips are guided by Vivek himself. His knowledge of Indian wildlife, conservation, the environment and his enthusiasm in sharing this knowledge will provide you with a wonderful experience. His team of English speaking guides share his love and knowledge of India and its wildlife.
We believe that travel should benefit local communities and have minimal impact on wildlife and the natural environment.
As part of Safari India's commitment to responsible tourism practices, we are International Tour Operator members of the Travel Operators for Tigers campaign (TOFT). This is a global travel industry initiative which aims, in cooperation with the charity Global Tiger Patrol, to advocate, catalyse and support a more responsible and sustainable approach to tourism in India's wildlife reserves, together with supporting specific conservation and local community programmes which benefit the local villages and wildlife within the parks you visit as part of your itinerary with us.
Our ground operators in India are also members of TOFT.
